We all love a bit of The Witcher 3, don’t we? Having first released back in 2015 though, it’s fair to say that it doesn’t look quite as sharp as the games we see coming out on new-gen consoles now, and understandably so. Well, as always, you can rely on the modding community to put in work, because if you need something doing, do it yourself, right?
In this video uploaded to YouTube by digital artist Digital Dreams, you can see just how stunning the world of The Witcher 3 is when transformed into 8K. Over 100 mods are at work to elevate the game’s visuals to the next level, including huge improvements to the lighting and colours.
“Will be definitely downloading most, if not all of these mods on my 2nd playthrough,” commented Luisa Nash. “Guess I’ll play it again for the 8th time. Thanks for the recommendation, brother,” wrote jeanet lemonds.
The good news is, if you want to give 8K The Witcher 3 a go, you can! Digital Dreams has released a full mod list for free, and has included a list of PC specs in the original video, so you can experience the game in exactly the same way. The creator has released graphical overhauls for other games before, too, including one for Skyrim, with a whopping 1300+ mods, so be sure to check them out if you’re interested.
Earlier this year, it was announced that we’ll be seeing a new-gen update to The Witcher 3 sometime soon, in the form of The Witcher 3: Complete Edition. While the update was supposed to release this year, it’s been delayed until 2022 – perhaps unsurprising news given that there’s less than two weeks left in the year at the time of writing. Currently, CD Projekt Red is aiming for it to release around Q2 next year, so we’ll have to wait and see how the visuals compare to Digital Dreams’ modded version.
